Frascati

• Breakfast. Meet with the guide for the tour of Frascati.

We will walk the streets of one of the most renowned municipalities of the Roman Castles famous for the various Tuscolan villas once home to illustrious patrician families.

The town is also often remembered for the Neo-Renaissance Baroque cathedral of St. Peter and the church of Gesù built in the eighteenth century by the genius of Carlo Fontana.

Wine Tour

• In the late morning we will move to a local winery and visit the old farmhouse surrounded by nature, vineyards and olive groves.

In these places vines have been cultivated since Roman times, it is possible to visit ancient caves where wine has been aged for millennia. We will talk about the vine working techniques and the winemaking processes. Time to taste the famous Frascati wine! We will guide you through a tasting of three locally produced wines, including the famous white wine Frascati Superiore DOCG. After lunch will be served consisting of an appetizer and a first course of the Roman tradition.

• At the end of the visit, transfer hotel. Afternoon at leisure, overnight stay.

Optional Visit of Grottaferrata and Abbey of San Nilo

• In the afternoon stop in Grottaferrata, an elegant town in the Roman Castles and visit of the Greek Abbey of San Nilo.

The Abbey was founded in 1004 and is currently the last of the Byzantine rite monasteries in Italy. Built on the foundations of an important Roman villa, it incorporates the so-called Grotta Ferrata (cryptaferrata): a sepulchral cell presumed to be the tomb of Tulliola, daughter of Cicero. Along the way you can admire the Farnese Chapel with frescoes by Domenichino and the icon of Mary with the Child by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

Guided tour of Castel Gandolfo and Ariccia

• Breakfast, meet with the guide and tour of the historic buildings.

Transfer to Castel Gandolfo, a delightful town overlooking Lake Albano, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, known for the presence of the Papal Palace, the pope’s summer residence.

• Visit of the ancient city center with the Papal Palace (entrance included), the Pontifical Villas and the beautiful gardens.

A journey that will tell us the history of the papacy from the seventeenth century to the Lateran Pacts, from the stay of John Paul II and Benedict XVI to the transformation into a museum by Pope Francis. This will be followed by a walk in the manicured gardens of the Parco delle Ville Pontificie with the remains of the ancient Roman villa.

• Continue to Ariccia where we can admire the buildings overlooking piazza di Corte designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini together with the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, Palazzo Chigi (outside) and the famous Ariccia bridge.

The majesty of the place and the natural beauty that surrounds it have made it the destination of the Grand Tour.

• Return to Frascati.
• Afternoon at leisure, overnight.

Optional (not included): walk in Nemi

• After lunch it is possible to continue the afternoon with a walk through the streets of the ancient village of Nemi, the smallest town in the Roman Castles dating back to Roman times.

Colorful, surrounded by nature and with a unique view of the lake of the same name, it offers noteworthy landscape views.

Transfers to/from Nemi included, free visit. Price per person: 30€, to choose when booking.
